About Us

Who are we?
Team JMS is the dynamic duo of Jean-Marc and Jennika. It was over a year ago that we discovered we had the same initials and we've been a team ever since.

Who is Jean-Marc?

Jean-Marc is from a French-Irish Catholic fishing community in Nova Scotia. With the support of a large family, he has found academic success and is ready to put his book learning to use. While completing his Bachelor of Science, Jean-Marc backpacked through 14 European countries and traveled to Guyana as a member of Remote Area Medical Volunteers. His current plans are to teach in Korea and increase his travel experience by meandering about Asia with his lovely girlfriend Jennika. You should know that he is awesome! How could he not be with such a rugged butt-chin.

Who is Jennika?

Small town girl with big city dreams, Jennika grew up in a suburban area east of Toronto, Ontario. She may not want to admit she's from the country, but when the neighbour's horses get out and end up grazing on the front yard, no one can deny it's a little rural. After completing a Bachelor's and Master's degree in neuroscience, she knew it was time to take a break from school. Teaching English in a foreign country, especially Korea, has been a goal of her's for quite some time - and it's finally coming true! An avid language enthusiast, Jennika hopes to eventually return to the books to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Why are we blogging?

From the beginning of the relationship, we'd discussed working and traveling abroad. Eight months later, we started the application process to find jobs in Korea. Through the help of friends, a recruiting agency, and some good luck, we both secured jobs at Bugil Academy in Cheonan, South Korea. Jean-Marc will be teaching AP Physics to high schoolers and Jennika will be engaging grade 11 boys in conversational English. This blog is meant to chronicle our experience and to let our friends and family have an inside look at our lives. Being so far away and so many hours ahead makes communication with home a little difficult; thus we wanted a way to keep our friends and family close. Please leave us comments and feedback - we appreciate them!
